This week, Shropshire Class have continued to work incredibly hard and have enjoyed celebrating all the fantastic progress they have made throughout Year 2.
In Maths, we have been practising fact families and using the inverse operation to check our answers. The children used their knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to solve problems and explain how different calculations are linked.
In English, we have been planning, writing and performing our own interview scripts with the main character from our class text, Leaf. The children thought carefully about the questions they would ask and responded in role as Leaf, using evidence from the story to help express the character's thoughts and feelings. They showed great confidence when performing their interviews to the class.
In Reading, we explored the picture book Beegu and revisited many of the reading skills we have developed throughout Year 2. The children practised predicting, inferring, clarifying and retrieving information, demonstrating how much their comprehension skills have grown over the year.
In History, we learned about the life and reign of Elizabeth I. The children explored why she was such a significant monarch and discussed some of the important events that took place during her reign.
In Science, we created comic strips to illustrate the life cycle of a tadpole, sequencing each stage and explaining how it changes as it grows into an adult frog.
Finally, a huge thank you to all the parents and carers who attended our parent conferences this week. It was wonderful to meet with you and celebrate the fantastic progress the children have made throughout the year. Your continued support is greatly appreciated.
It has been another brilliant week of learning in Shropshire Class, and we are so proud of everything the children have achieved. 🌟
