Forest school will take place on Thursday mornings. Please can children come to school dressed in appropriate forest school clothes.
This week marked the final week of Term 5, and Shropshire Class have ended the term with lots of fantastic learning and exciting activities.
In Maths, we started our new topic on statistics. The children learned how to collect and record data using tally charts and discussed how information can be organised clearly. They worked carefully to count accurately and interpret the data they collected.
In English, we planned our own persuasive letters. The children explored the structure and key features of persuasive writing before creating eye-catching posters to support their ideas. They thought carefully about how to persuade the reader using strong vocabulary and clear arguments.
In Reading, we focused on the comprehension skills of sequencing and inferring using Fantastic Mr Fox by Roald Dahl. The children worked hard to order events from the story and used clues from the text to make thoughtful inferences about the characters and their actions.
In History, we explored royal portraits and identified key details within them. The children discussed what portraits can tell us about monarchs from the past, including symbols, clothing and poses used to show power and importance.
In Art, we created our final pieces by designing a royal digital portrait of ourselves. The children used digital art skills to create colourful and creative portraits inspired by the royal artwork we have been studying.
This week was also Science Week, and we would like to say a huge thank you to all the visitors who came in to share exciting scientific learning with us. The children especially enjoyed taking part in a fun science experiment using different fizzy drinks and Mentos to discover which combination created the quickest and biggest explosion! Before carrying out the investigation, the children made predictions and discussed how to make it a fair test. They then collected their results and presented the data using a bar chart.
Thank you for all your continued support throughout Term 5. We hope you all have a lovely, sunny half term and look forward to seeing everyone back for another exciting term of learning! 🌞🌟
