This week in Shropshire 1

Now we have finished the whole story of Egg Box Dragon, the children have been learning about sequences and thinking about the order that things happened in the story.  They are then going to use this knowledge to create their own story maps.

In geography we have been working on directional language.  The children were given directional language word cards and a big space to work in. Together we looked at what each instruction meant then we gave each other directions to follow, for example, ‘Walk forwards, stop, walk backwards, stop, turn left, stop, walk forwards’. The children were encouraged to make longer sequences by using multiple cards together to form a route. We all really enjoyed following each other’s instructions and trying to remember our left and our right.  We have also been using this directional language in computing this term and finding out how important it is to be very clear when writing algorithms for a robot to follow.

Just a quick note, if you would like to send a message to your child’s teacher – the easiest way is to email the office.  They then make sure that the message gets to us promptly.
