Being a Church School

Perseverance

Our Christian Value for the term is Perseverance.

We will explore how Perseverance relates to our Christian vision, illustrated through the story of Zacchaeus as he tried to see and hear Jesus teaching. This story illustrates how we can persevere to make good choices and learn throughout our lives.

Our Bible story for the term:

Luke 19 1-10

Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector in Jericho and very wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short, he could not see over the crowd.  He persevered, though and climbed a tree.  When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and told Zacchaeus to come down and that he wanted to stay at his house. The crowd were not pleased that he had been chosen but Zacchaeus said he would give half his possessions to the poor and pay back anyone he had cheated.  Jesus said he had come to seek and save the lost.
