Southborough finish a brilliant second in the Year 3-4 Dynamo Cricket Competition- Monday 15th June

Well done to all the pupils that took part in the Dynamo Pairs Cricket Competition this week at the Nevil Cricket Club. Southborough were in group A and had a number of tough matches which included St Peters, St Marks and Langton Green school.  We started really well against St Marks with some brilliant bowling from Isaac and Vaishnav. We eventually managed to win by 7 runs with 56-49 runs. St Peter’s were very competitive and due to some excellent fielding from Olivia, Rose and Isaac A despite St Peter’s scoring 35 runs we managed to win by an impressive 12 runs with 47-35 runs. Langton Green again played really well scoring 36 runs but with some accurate bowling from Matthew and Advait we felt we could comfortably achieve this score. It came down to the very last over where Odette bowled really well but despite our best effort we managed to score 35 runs with Langton Green winning by one run 36-35 runs. We finished 2nd in our group which meant we played St Marks in the semi-final. James and Theo batted brilliantly and we took a commanding lead to win by 17 runs, 57-40 runs.

In the finals we played Langton Green School who were made up of a number of club players despite producing our best batting and bowling, Langton Green managed to score 54 runs which was a big score to chase.  The team played brilliantly captained by Isaac Y in the final game and once again it came down to the last over where we narrowly lost by 3 runs, 54-51 runs. We finished second overall.

The team were: Isaac Y, Isaac A, Theo, James, Matthew, Vaishnav, Advait, Odette, Olivia and Rose.

Rapid Fire Cricket- Tuesday 5th May, 2026- Skinners Kent Junior School

On Tuesday 5th May Southborough Year 2 Rapid Fire Cricket team travelled to Skinners Kent Junior School to take part in the Annual District Cricket tournament. The team were playing in group two against all the local Tunbridge Wells schools including St Matthews, Claremont, Langton Green and St Marks.

Southborough played St Matthews first in an extremely close game that saw St Matthews win by 24 runs despite some brilliant individual batting with Frank scoring an impressive 24 runs. In the end we scored 158 runs to St Matthews 182 runs.

In the second game we played Claremont which historically has always been a close game. This year proved similar with Claremont scoring 96 runs to Southborough’s 107 runs. The team fielded particularly well with Lula and Charlotte making some exceptional throws backed up by Beatrice at the cones.

In the third game we played Langton Green and this was to be another close game with Southborough scoring 107 to Langton Green’s 117 giving Langton Green the narrow win. Freddie and Eddie battled particularly well finding the gaps between the fielders to score some important runs.

We then played St Marks who proved to be the closest game of the day with only 3 points separate the two team. In the end Southborough managed to win by 3 runs beating St Marks 117 to 114 runs. It was some brilliant fielding by William and Arabella that saw the team come through to a narrow victory.

The day finished with the much-anticipated results and Southborough finished a magnificent second behind St Matthews in the Tunbridge Wells schools’ event. All the children had a thoroughly enjoyable morning and played with spirit and determination throughout the event. Well done team.
