This week in Berkshire 2:

Year 2 spellings are available under Children > Home Learning > Year 2 Home Learning. Please encourage your child to practise these words regularly at home, as spelling tests are held every Tuesday. Thank you for your support in helping your child develop their spelling skills.

Well done Year 2 - what an exciting week!

In English, we began by looking at adjectives and their use within expanded noun phrases, e.g. I cuddled a tiny, fluffy puppy. Then we were pretending to be Rocket having come back from seeing the Phoenix Meteor Shower. We planned and then wrote a postcard to her 'Gaga' who lives in Jamaica to tell her how amazing it was! We focused on accurate use of capital letters and full stops to demarcate a sentence.

In Maths, we have focused on subtraction from a 10 and across a ten. E.g. 32 – 5, jump back 2 to 30. Then jump back 3 more. Answer = 27.  We partitioned the 5 to allow us to get back to the previous 10. We are excited to build on this method throughout the year.

In History, we have been discovering more about Christopher Columbus and how / why he is known as a significant explorer. How much can you remember to tell your adult?

In Science over the past 2 weeks we have been looking into types of movement and exercise. There have been many new exercises learnt and our teachers have thoroughly enjoyed demonstrating them – with some planks from teachers not going quite to plan 😊
