Term 6 Week 7

WB:13.07.26

In Maths, we have moved on to exploring 2D and 3D shapes. The children have been identifying and naming a range of common shapes, as well as discussing what makes each shape unique. We have been looking at their properties, including the number of sides and corners for 2D shapes, and faces, edges and vertices for 3D shapes. The children have also been encouraged to compare shapes, sort them according to their properties, and explain their thinking using mathematical vocabulary.

In English, we have been reflecting on the six books we have studied this year: KrindlekraxUGQuill SoupThe Miraculous Journey of Edward TulaneOliver and the Seawigs and The Ice Palace. The children compared the stories, discussed their favourite characters and moments.

On Monday and Tuesday next week, the class will be with their usual teachers in their new classroom. To help us settle in we are planning a creative afternoon Monday, so please bring a small amount of cardboard resources for junk modelling ( please no nut packaging), as we will be making some Roman inventions, artefacts and other historical items in the afternoon!

Thank you for ensuring that children come to school each day with a named water bottle and hat, and for applying sun cream before school

A gentle reminder to please ensure that all items brought into school are clearly named.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

A week in Buckinghamshire

Please continue to support your child with regular reading at home and by updating their Boom Reader account whenever possible. Your support makes a real difference to their confidence and progress. Please also ensure your child brings their reading book into school every day. Please also follow this link https://global-zone61.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/6704864

to access quizzes when your child finishes a book. They will know their login details for this.

We are continuing to learn our times tables with some fun songs! Practising for just 15 minutes a week on the recommended website will make a huge difference in building strong multiplication and division skills, which are essential throughout Key Stage 2 and beyond. We have been learning our nine timetables - here is our new song for you to practise at home -
