This week in Shropshire 3:

Week beginning 12th October

Dear parents and carers,

In English this week, we finally finished Quill Soup. What an ending! The children and I loved the underlying message of generosity and kindness and discussed how we can all benefit if we share our resources. We also focused on including noun phrases into our writing and expanded noun phrases to add more detail to the noun by adding one or more adjectives. 

In Maths, we have started to add and subtract 2-digit numbers and 3-digits numbers using the formal written column method. We are so proud of Shropshire as they have worked so hard on this. Next week, we will be continuing our work on column addition and subtraction. 

In Geography, we have been learning about the four layers of the Earth - crust, mantle, outer core and inner core. The children showed their creativity by working in groups to create a cross-section of the Earth using salt-dough. They worked well together and produced some wonderful 3-D models. After half term, we will be looking at Plate Tectonics and Climate zones.

Just a reminder that Term 1 finishes next Tuesday 20th October at the normal time.
