Home Learning

All of the children will have an investigative topic-linked learning task to complete, which is rotated over a three-week cycle. The children will focus on one of their three current foundation subjects each week.
To support this, the children are split into 3 groups, which you can see below.
This will be set on a Thursday and due by the following Tuesday.
In class on a Tuesday or Wednesday, the children will then share the outcomes of their research, and the knowledge they have retrieved, within their own group.

Shropshire 2 Home Learning January 2026

Week Beginning 12th January

PE will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays for Term 3.

As part of our Art topic Flowers this term, we would really appreciate any donations of real flowers that families may be able to offer. If you are trimming plants in your garden over the winter or have any flowers at home that would otherwise be thrown away, the children would love to use them to explore shape, colour, and texture in their artwork.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support 🌸

This week has been another wonderful one in Shropshire 2!

In Maths, the children have been revisiting some key learning from last year alongside completing their Autumn term assessments. These have given them the chance to show just how much progress they’ve made over the past few months. They have approached this with fantastic focus and determination, and we are incredibly proud of their efforts.

In English, we have continued reading our class text Traction Man. The children used their plans to write a diary entry from Traction Man’s perspective, describing his thrilling adventures. Ask your child about expanded noun phrases so they can demonstrate their learning at home!

In Science, we carried on with our new topic on materials. The children explored the school environment, identifying a range of materials and discussing their uses.

In Geography, our learning about coasts continued. Using maps of Whitby beach, the children studied the map key to identify both human and physical features.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support with the foundation home learning tasks. The children have thoroughly enjoyed sharing their work with the class, and we have been so impressed by their creativity and thoughtful ideas. This has really helped to deepen and extend their learning in school.
