Year 1 Home Learning

For this week’s home learning, please continue using the RWI packs that were sent home. It has been wonderful to hear from parents about the positive impact they have been having.

The sounds or sets of sounds that your child needs to focus on will be highlighted within the pack. Please try to work on these, we recommend short, frequent sessions of no longer than 10 minutes. If you are unsure of the sounds, please  use the QR codes below.

We would love your child to pick one of their sound focuses and draw a picture, e.g. 'oa' the goat is in a boat on the moat! Thank you for your continued support, we are proud of how hard the children are working.

This week, Hampshire Class have had a wonderful week of learning. In English, the children have been exploring the new book Claude at the Circus, making predictions about the story and discussing what they think it might be about. They enjoyed drawing Claude step by step and wrote thoughtful character descriptions.

In Maths, the children have been finding one more and one less than any number up to 100. They showed great confidence and enthusiasm and were fantastic at this challenge.

In Science, the children have been learning about animals by drawing and labelling different species. On Friday, they will continue their learning by grouping animals according to their characteristics.

As part of our wider learning, we have been reflecting on special “wow moments” – times when we have felt a sense of awe and wonder. The children have shared these spiritual experiences and added them to our Wow Wall.

Our Weekly Timetable:
