We have all had a wonderful trip to Kent Life this week. The children were a credit to the school, behaving beautifully throughout the day and engaging enthusiastically in all of the workshops and activities.
During our visit, we learned lots about Roman life and took part in an exciting workshop on Roman roads, where the children experienced what life may have been like for Roman engineers and workers.
A huge thank you to the parents and carers who joined us and helped make the day such a success.
In English, we are continuing to enjoy our class novel, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. This week, the children wrote diary entries from Edward’s perspective, reflecting on the challenges he faces as a toy longing to be treated as a real person. They showed great empathy and maturity in their writing, thoughtfully exploring Edward’s feelings and experiences.
In Maths, we have been learning to tell the time and solve problems involving time. On Monday, we also explored Roman numerals, which the children thoroughly enjoyed linking to our History topic. We have found that many children are still finding it challenging to read analogue clocks, particularly when working out the minutes past and minutes to the hour. Any extra practice at home would be greatly beneficial. Please encourage your child to tell the time on an analogue clock whenever possible. Although these clocks are less common nowadays, being able to read them confidently remains an important life skill.
In History, we have been learning about the Roman invasions of Britain and considering how the Celtic people may have felt during this time. The children demonstrated excellent historical thinking by putting themselves in the shoes of others and exploring different perspectives, causes, and consequences.
We look forward to welcoming those who are able to join us for our Father’s Day Breakfast on Monday 15th June.
Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support. It makes such a positive difference to your child's learning and progress. We are looking forward to our final term together in Year 3—it is going to be a busy and exciting one, with lots of opportunities for learning and memorable experiences. I can't wait to see all that the children achieve over the coming weeks.
Please continue to support your child with regular reading at home and by updating their Boom Reader account whenever possible. Your support makes a real difference to their confidence and progress. Please also ensure your child brings their reading book into school every day. Please also follow this link https://global-zone61.renaissance-go.com/welcomeportal/6704864
to access quizzes when your child finishes a book. They will know their login details for this.
We are continuing to learn our times tables with some fun songs!
