Year 5

In Term 5, Year 5 looked deeper into the creation of imaginary creatures such as unicorns, monsters, dragons and other animal hybrids. Why do imaginary creatures exist in stories? What would happen if those creatures were taken away from the story? The reading champions have taken their findings and used their knowledge to create their own imaginary creatures!

Year 6

In Term 5, Year 6 compared the presence of magic in stories. What is the point of magic? Where does it come from? We will be looking at books such as The Midnight Hour by Benjamin Read and Laura Trinder, A Hat Full of Sky by Terry Pratchett, The Apprentice Witch by James Nicol and many more from our Discovery Centre. Using what they learnt throughout this process, they then worked together to create a magical story of their own!
