Southborough shine at Dynamo Cricket Competition-Thursday 18th May

Well done to all the pupils that took part in the Dynamo Pairs Cricket Competition last week at the Nevil Cricket Club. Southborough were in group D and had a tough group which included St Matthews, Broadwater and St Peter’s school.  We started really well against St Matthews with some brilliant bowling from Elliott and Edward. We eventually managed to win by 48 runs. St Peter’s were very competitive and due to some excellent fielding from Magnus, Martha and Louis despite St Peter’s scoring 37 runs we managed to win by an impressive 23 runs. Broadwater again played really well scoring 46 runs but with some accurate bowling from April and Beth we felt we could comfortably achieve this score. Samuel, Jared and Harley batted really well, finding the gaps and the team managed to produce their biggest score of the day of 65 runs to win the game.

In the Semi finals we played Claremont School who were made up of Tunbridge Wells district players and despite producing our best batting and bowling Claremont proved too strong having scored 78 runs in their innings. We replied with 43 runs but lost by 35 runs by the end of the match. We finished the day by playing St Johns and had a very close game with Elliott and Samuel leading by example. In the end despite scoring 48 runs we lost by 18 runs due to losing 7 wickets when we batted.  Overall, we finished 4th in the competition and it was a brilliant team performance. Well done everyone.

The team were: Harley, Elliott (Capt), Louis, Jared, Magnus, Edward, Samuel, Martha, Beth and April.
