CHRISTMAS STAR JUMP CHALLENGE- WEEK OF DECEMBER 7TH
As we can’t currently run our usual Christmas fair which is a big school fundraiser of the year we are planning a Christmas Sponsored Star Jumps during PE lessons starting next week. The aim is for pupils to be given the opportunity to see how many star jumps they can complete in a minute!
All the money raised will go towards purchasing books for the new Discovery Centre. Prizes will be awarded for the highest number of jumps and highest amount raised per individual in each year group. I've attached a short video explaining a little more.
This week in core PE we are focusing on handball skills, ultimate frisbee and netball skills with expertise from our external PE specialist from Sprint PE. I have added some useful links for pupils to practice their skills at home. Focus on the technique and how these could be applied to the game.
Welcome back after 1/2 term, I'd like to continue to encourage pupils and their families to walk, cycle or run around some of the beautiful countryside and routes that we have in the West Kent area. Many walks/cycles can be accessed from our front doors and don't involve having to drive any distance. I've added a number of routes that I use locally for my own training and fitness. At the weekends I often walk, run or cycle these as a great way to exercise and also for Health and Wellbeing and these can take anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours in the fresh air. Recently, I explored the paths and trails around Eridge and Broadwater Warren focusing on capturing different sounds, tree colours and plant life. I've left the links (below) so that parents and pupils can also build their own routes from the front door.
We've also kept the Move It to Music Films whereby during the film pupils exercise at certain scenes following the exercises that are given.
