Music at Southborough Primary School is a valued, thriving subject that focuses on enabling all pupils to access music at different levels. Music is taught as part of the curriculum throughout the school, from Reception to Year 6 and is planned and delivered by a specialist team. Children regularly take part in singing assemblies, lead by a choir leader and this is seen as a real highlight in the school week.
Alongside class music every week, opportunities are given for further music enrichment through our developing lunchtime and after-school club programme. In addition to this, we have an excellent team of experienced peripatetic instrumental teachers offering individual and small group teaching on a wide range of instruments including; singing, clarinet, saxophone, violin, cello, piano/keyboard, guitar, drums and ukulele. Regular performance opportunities are offered to children to develop their performing and ensemble skills both informally in school and more formally in a concert setting.
