THE CURRICULUM

Forest SchoolsOur curriculum is firmly based on the requirements of the National Curriculum.  During your child’s time with us they will proceed through The Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and 2 of the National Curriculum.  The subjects covered are the core subjects, Mathematics, English, Science, R.E and I.C.T. and the foundation subjects, Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music, Physical Education and Citizenship.

Our creative curriculum is based around topics and themes which start with the use of rich texts. All subjects, where possible, link to the theme ensuring that all learning is deepened and connected. For example this may involve a maths lesson on measure incorporating the measuring of different types of bows and arrows in the topic on castles and cracking codes as part of problem solving in Year 6's topic on WW2.

AutumnTeachers plan the knowledge, skills and concepts they want children to learn but provide the flexibility of learning by involving children in deciding what aspects of the topics that they themselves want to find out about.
