Hello and a very warm welcome to Southborough’s Parent Teacher Association.

Every parent or carer with a pupil at our school automatically becomes a member of our PTA. Here at Southborough we have a fantastic lively and active PTA committee, a group of parents and staff members who raise much needed funds to enhance the educational enrichment opportunities and enjoyment for our school community.

Each year we aim to raise approximately £10,000 and in previous years these funds have helped to provide resources ranging from table tennis tables and iPads to playground adventure trails. It is however not just our school who benefits from our fundraising but also members of our local community. We like to involve everyone locally as much as possible as we feel strong community relationships are vital.

We raise funds through a series of events held throughout the school year including Christmas and Summer Fairs, Easter Bingo, Quiz nights and our annual fireworks display.

There is no pressure to join our committee, your support in general is all that we ask. However, if you would like to become more involved we always appreciate help in a number of ways. Could you spend an evening folding raffle tickets for us? Or help with setting up or clearing up at events? Are you able to provide a service we may need such as printing, or able to provide sponsorship in some way such as through match funding?  Or are you simply just good at fundraising ideas?  If you feel you could make a difference, we would love to hear from you so please do get in touch via our email

 Match Funding

You will hopefully be aware of the fantastic work your PTA are doing to raise funds for our school. We wanted to take this opportunity to remind you about the Match Funding scheme and how a little bit of your time could raise double the funds for the PTA.

If you work for an organisation that has a match funding policy, any money you raise could be matched by your employer. Companies may match the fundraising total for an event, or for the stall that their employee is working on. Usually, the employee will need to supply them with a letter from the PTA detailing the date and nature of the event, together with the total raised.

We understand that the high street banks, building societies, supermarkets and large corporations are likely to do match funding, but these schemes are not exclusive to the major corporate giants. If you work for an independent company, they may be interested in charitable giving through match funding too.

We would be grateful if you could see if your employer has a match funding scheme, or if they are willing to match fund any of our events. If you can’t help out this time, but you know the company you work for has a match funding policy, please let us know. This could be a really large source of income for the PTA and help us raise money for much needed equipment for our school.
