Southborough C of E Primary School

Art & Design Technology

At Southborough School, we value art because it stimulates creativity and imagination. Our curriculum provides a broad learning environment in which Art and Design can be explored in a personal, creative, expressive and cross-curricular way to develop the children’s potential, as a combination of visual, tactile and sensory experiences enables children to communicate what they see, feel and think through the use of colour, texture, form, pattern and varied materials and processes.

We believe that the appreciation and enjoyment of the visual arts enriches all of our lives and provides an insight into different times and cultures.
At Southborough we are developing this holistic approach throughout the school through the use of Art Journals, capturing every child’s individual ideas, exploration and progress, from mark making, designing, and planning to large scale final pieces reviewed with analytical thought.
